Description
For standard conductor & straight splice for miniature conductor. Used in making end to end splices. Only the major trees in a group need be protected to give ample protection for the smaller ones. If there are several trees in a row (all major trees), the grounding may be made by “common grounding” by trnching from the base of each protected tree to the depth ground(s) as long as these depth ground locations are not more than 80 feet apart. Depth groundings shall be added as required. This avoids the practice of making independent groundings for each tree thus reducing the cost of the lightning protection. For sandy or very dry soils, and additional second system may be necessary. Underwater sprinkler systems, water pipes and other metal objects are very good grounds. Large trees with trunks measuring three (3) feet or more in diameter should have two ground cables extending beyond the spread of branches and connecting to proper ground system. Ground cable should be buried to a sufficient depth to avoid displacement or damage. Illustrating multiple type grounding system with 90 degree cable to ground clamps also available. CA LIG CLA 198
